Agreed. PvP and Arena balancing constantly messes with our far more relevant PvE. Imagine how many fun abilities we could have if stupid PvP balancing didn't have to be taken into account...
Easy just implement a way for people to get high end PVP gear via BGs. The simple fact is that the main reason arena is so hated is that it is the only way to get the best PVP gear. Seeing as Blizz has already announced there will be a new rated BG system which I'm assuming will allow players to get that gear without arena. Once you don't have to do it people will have it a lot less.
Seperate abilities effects into "vs NPC" or "vs PC", would require a huge patch im sure, but in the end it would remove pve imbalances and make pvp more fun. And yes atm the game is "quite" balanced considering the convoluted steps they've taken to get it to this point. Oh and I want my old Blight AoE back :P not this crappy DoT
I'm not a huge fan of PvP in any form for a few different reasons, but I do remember the days of old when Gurubashi Arena was popular, and quite fun. Maybe Blizz has tried to model something on that success?
I feel that PvP will always be unbalanced, as far as the Classes are concerned and the people who whinge about PvP orientated "Nerfs" and "Buffs" constantly ruin it for those who want to raid. Not sure how they can fix it short of getting rid of PvP, or keeping PvP and PvE totally separate.
They definately gotta even out some of the classes with each other, i mean sure some classes are better vs others and thats what gives the class combos in Arena but when one class destroys almost every class and a team has a couple and a healer, what do u do... I mean i love pvp but they gotta fix up some stuff here for sure and like Katsumo said, needs variety
Even when I lucked into my class being the flavor of the month for a season, I would have rather been forced to run MC in greys than participate in Arenas.
I used to hate arena's. Recently, though, I teamed up with a mage friend (I have a disc priest) and we're having a good time. I used to dread doing arena's, until I started playing on this 2v2 team. We may never get too high of an arena rating, but we're having fun, so it's all good.
Arena can be fun or painful. Glad it's in the game, but I think way too much emphasis is placed on it.
Honestly, it's probably an amazing tool for the devs to use while balancing out the classes, at least for pvp, but the balancing seems to effect pve way too often.
Currently flawed? No, not really. Blizzard has managed to balance arena pretty well recently, and to say it's not part of the game is pretty naive. This is World of WARcraft after all, to get PvP into the game in as many ways possible is a good thing. Most of you didn't buy the game to /hug the opposing factions, arena doesn't change that. For those who don't like it, you are not forced to play them, that's the beauty of the game.
I have never played arenas, so I am leaving no score. I am surprised to see, however, how consistently low marks have been awarded to each and every arena in the game.
I think people give arena way more grief than is really deserved. Arena can definetly be fun, but blizz was really stupid when they decided that arena should basically just replace BGs rather than just adding to the current PVP system.
I love arena for it's quick pace, having to make decisions in a matter of seconds. Where sometimes PvE becomes a little dull, arena is a great way to break the cycle.
I personally find arena to exert my skills further than PvE, though on the other hand it gets frustrating rather quickly. PvE is often more predictable, as enemy targets are engine-controlled.
I like the primary aim on the actions of players, rather than scripted events. To me it feels more dynamic than PvE.
IF WoW and WoW Arena were two seperate games, it would work, however due to arena's, the whole Horde vs Alliance of Battlegrounds is reduced to a......arena, which is a lot less, epic pvp warzone fighting, and more a us vs not us thing
Arena gets a huge chunk of Blizz's spotlight because they can rake in even more dough by hosting MLG events and such. BG's are fun, but arenas can go die in a fire.
Having balance changed due to arenas has hurt all three of my main classes - most recently, my protection paladin - in PVE content. I can't help but despise them.
Ah well, moarQQ for me.
