Hands down the worst instance in Wrath, if not the game. Related achievements are also horrible. I don't have my drake because this instance sucks so bad, and I have no desire to return.
I signed up just to give this dungeon a bad rating.
Hypothetical conversation:
Person A: This dungeon sucks!
Person B: I don't think it's so bad, why do you think it sucks?
Person A: I don't know, it just Sucks!
While the site does provide a very subjective feedback/rating system, stating why something sucks is much more helpful to others than just stating that it is a "bad dungeon".
Developer: So me and the guys came up with this idea of the instance in which you travel from platform to platform on drakes and then fight a big drake while on a small drake...
Producer: And...?
Developer: That's it!
Producer: Love it, let's do it.
I usually can't get a group for oculus even among most hardcore Daily heroic grinders.
Is it just me or can people not spell the name of this instance properly? It's Oculus not Occulus.
While this instance was a major pain when it was released, it has become much less of a hassle now that the drakes scale with your gear. As far as difficulty is concerned, Oculus is not really that complicated, if you take the time to figure out which drake should be performing which task, at which time. Once you have determined that, the instance becomes relatively easy, and can be farmed successfully.
A 5-man dungeon for raiders: the last boss requires good players who can learn how to do new things, rather than facerollers; and the 2nd and 3rd bosses can also require a lot of skill. To me, this is the most consistently interesting and challenging 5-man out there.
That said, trying to get the achievements done here before the drakes started scaling with item level was brutal. Drake scaling should've been in from day one.
it was so awful when it first came out everyone (including me) slogged away until they scraped through then refuse to ever set foot in the place again. Getting a group for the daily heroic is impossible so no idea if its better with gear scaling. .
Prior to patch 3.3 this instance was the bane of my existence. Not necessarily because of the drakes, but just because of poor design. It looks cool, but it doesn't play well. However, with patch 3.3, I find this instance tolerable, and not as bad. :)
Meh, after this place got buffed, it's hardly any effort at all, and it gives extra badges. One of the fastest dungeons per badges in the game at the moment. And it's kinda fun now too.
Don't really know why people hate this place. And now with the additional "Goodie bag" you get if it's random, it's even more worth it. Normally i would have rated it a 3, but as all other dislike it so much, here's a 5 :P
