This is a well-scripted encounter, with special effects and lore galore, but I feel the fight mechanics are a little too simplistic. Conceptually, the only people that should have a difficult time in this fight are the tanks and the healers, but only insofar as they are both responsible for keeping the tank alive; meanwhile, the DPS classes/specs, which make up the majority of the raid, fall into a very steady and easily repeatable routine that basically amounts to "don't eat a cosmic smash or big bang."
I want to give this encounter a 5 because of the amount of work Blizzard put into the scripting and effects of the encounter, but the rather simplistic mechanics force me to downgrade that rating to a 4.
Disappointing to hear that it's not all that interesting mechanically. I'm still eager to see this, sounds like it's a visual & story spectacle at least.
While it isn't very interesting mechanically, lorewise it is an amazing encounter. This is one of the few boss fights I look forward to each week with my guild. The 1 hour time limit, while frustrating at times, really adds excitement to this encounter. Also I just love sci-fi type bosses :)
I have seen worlds bathed in the Makers' flames. Their denizens fading without so much as a whimper. Entire planetary systems born and raised in the time that it takes your mortal hearts to beat once. Yet all throughout, my own heart, devoid of emotion... of empathy. I... have... felt... NOTHING! A million, million lives wasted. Had they all held within them your tenacity? Had they all loved life as you do?
